Standard/960H CCTV is the traditional type of system with camera resolution measured in TV Lines (TVL). The video output from each camera is an analogue signal that can be plugged directly into a TV for stand alone monitoring without any decoding device. The market is flooded with cheap kits, many with questionable image quality. Recent advances in recording technology allow for more of the cameras detail to be recorded in 960H resolution, thus offering a slight improvement but still not a HD picture.
Despite this we now do not recommend purchasing a new analogue CCTV kit for a new install as recent digital HD advances are now pretty much at the same cost. Please see HDA CCTV and HDTVI (Turbo) CCTV
